INTERIM CRITICAL CARE NURSE MANAGER

Location - Northern California

 

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

 

THE NURSE MANAGER:

  • Reports to the CNE and is responsible for the daily department operations, staff supervision, project management, staff and patient education, staff development and the supervision, coordination and evaluation of the department functions.  

  • Will assist in activities to provide cost-effective and high quality care according to the policies, procedures and standards set within the organization.

  • Is a professional nurse who possesses advanced knowledge of local, state, federal and other health care regulations; and advanced clinical knowledge and skills. Will be responsible for developing and implementing changes in policies, practices, and standardized procedures based upon input from staff and administration, while working in conjunction with the Quality Department and Accreditation and Risk Management Department to remain congruent with current laws and regulatory standards while promoting optimal patient care.

 

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION / LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current California RN licensure required

  • Bachelors In Nursing or related field / Master's preferred

  • Graduate of an accredited School of nursing

  • Basic Life Support Certification - BLS required

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support - ACLS required

  • National Specialty Certification preferred

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-5 years Nurse Manager / Director experience within a Critical Care environment.

  • Familiarity with agency and regulatory compliance standards in acute healthcare setting. Advanced knowledge of appropriate local, state, federal and other health care regulations and legal regulations and requirements related to Critical Care.

  • Knowledgeable about healthcare law, Title 22, Joint Commission, EMTALA and federal, state and local regulation and standards.

  • Prior experience working in a labor union environment, with an understanding of contractual issues and terms, as related to hiring, staging, scheduling issues preferred.

  • Staffing and scheduling experience that includes utilization of acuity and productivity systems and measurement tools for reliability.

  • Performance Improvement; experience with collecting and analyzing data and presenting.

  • Experience in survey protocols on an organizational level (Joint Commission, State, etc).

  • Experience in development and implementation of policies and procedures on an organizational level using evidence based practice.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, Conflict resolutions, negotiation and delegation.

  • Ability to work in a self-motivated, independent capacity essential.
